Veteran forward Tristan Thompson is set to sign a two-year, $19 million contract with the Boston Celtics, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
The Celtics hope Thompson can do what he’s done throughout his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers — grab rebounds.
Thompson, 29, averaged a career-high 12.0 points per game last season, along with 10.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
He is probably the best rebounder in Cav’s history. He is currently second in offensive rebounds, fourth in defensive rebounds, and third in total rebounds.
The arrival of Thompson will help the Celtics develop a solid rotation at the center position, as well as a flexible line-up.

Thompson was the No. 4 pick of the 2011 draft, going to the Cavs three picks after they took Kyrie Irving No. 1 overall. I’m told the Cavs’ offer to Tristan this year was for less than what the Celtics will pay. https://t.co/SG4UOyEcPT
