Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman will undergo surgery to treat his groin injury this week, reports say.
The former University of Minnesota star injured his groin Tuesday during a one-on-one training session with team member Marcus Peters.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed the news.
“He’s got a soft tissue leg issue… That’s going to be weeks,” said Harbaugh. “He’ll be back from that sometime in September and I think that’s pretty good news.”
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old thanked all his fans for their thoughts and prayers on social media.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out concerning my injury,” Bateman said on Instagram. “This is tough with it being the first injury in my career, but I trust that God has a plan for me.”
He later tweeted that he is going to “be back soon.”
Bateman was selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He received the 2019 Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year for catching 57 passes and scoring 11 touchdowns.
