The Pittsburgh Pirates are planning to trade All-Star second baseman Adam Frazier to the San Diego Padres for three minor leaguers, a source has told the Associated Press on Sunday.
The Pirates will receive infielder Tucupita Marcano, outfielder Jack Suwinski, and right-hander Michell Miliano in return.
Pittsburgh is also sending about $1.4 million to the Padres in the deal, the source claimed.
The trade is pending physicals. The MLB trade deadline is this Friday.
While the deal has yet to be announced, Pittsburgh pitcher J.T. Brubaker seemed to be hinting that the deal is real.
“I’m happy for the guy,” said Brubaker. “He’s going to go to a team that’s going to be in a playoff push down the stretch. Much deserved for him.”
In Sunday’s 6-1 loss to the Giants in San Francisco, Frazier was pulled in the eighth inning.
“Nothing’s final yet,” said Pirates manager Derek Shelton after the game. “I’m sure we’ll have that sometime later tonight.”
