Paul Pogba followed Cristiano Ronaldo’s example as he removed one of the sponsored products placed in front of him during a Euro 2020 press conference.
The event took place after France’s 1-0 victory against Germany on Tuesday, where Pogba was named Man of the Match.
Pogba is known for abstaining from alcoholic drinks since he converted to Islam. Realizing there was a bottle of Heineken beer on his table in front of him, he removed it without hesitation.
“He’s a Muslim,” a fan raged on Twitter. “Why put beer in front of him? Sponsors must be rational.”
“Quite understandable that, as a Muslim, Pogba wouldn’t want to be seen promoting beer,” another tweeted.
Heineken appeared to be understanding about what Pogpa did, saying in a statement, “We fully respect everyone’s decision when it comes to their beverage of choice.”
I don't drink alcohol man, but happy birthday
