Justin Fields is one of the best quarterback prospects in the NFL 2021 Draft, but managers might hesitate to select him next Thursday after he has shared medical information with teams around the league.
Fields disclosed to teams during the pre-draft process that he has epilepsy, according to a report published by the NFL Network on Wednesday.
Fields, who ended the 2020 season as the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year and unanimous winner of the first-team All Conference selection, is expected to secure one of the top-five picks in the 2021 NFL Draft later this month.
The 22-year-old led the Buckeyes to an undefeated regular season mark culminating in a Big Ten championship in 2020. He engineered an upset of Clemson in the playoffs with a legendary performance before the Buckeyes lost to Alabama in the national title game.
At the moment, he is favored to go No. 3 overall to the San Francisco 49ers after they traded up for the pick.
There’s a chance, too, that a team such as the New England Patriots, in the 15th slot, may have the former Ohio State in mind and could trade up.
