NHL planning ‘Outdoor Games’ in Lake Tahoe

NHL will host four teams as part of a unique two-game, two-day “Outdoor Weekend” showcase at Lake Tahoe on Feb. 20-21, 2021.

Edgewood Tahoe Resort, home of the popular celebrity golf tournament, will host the games.   The rink will encompass the 16th, 17th, and 18th holes.

The Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, and Philadelphia Flyers are the four teams that will play as part of the event, league sources confirmed

The Avalanche is expected to play the Golden Knights on Saturday, Feb. 20, and the Bruins will play the Flyers on Sunday, Feb. 21.

With the ambition of creating a unique event for the 2020-21 season, the NHL embarked on a series of fact-finding expeditions to Lake Louise, Alberta, and Park City, Utah, before settling on Lake Tahoe.

No fans will be permitted in the venue. There will only be a total of 400 people there, which will include staff from each team and those required to work the event.
