Kevin Durant responded to Scottie Pippen’s criticism on how he has not surpassed LeBron James.
Previously, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that Kevin Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan.
Following the Brooklyn Nets’ season-ending loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7, Pippen criticized Durant by comparing him to James.
“James is a complete team player who understands team and winning,” said Pippen. “Has [Durant] gotten to that level yet? He went home. I think he still has some learning to do in terms of what it takes to will a team to victory.”
On another occasion, Pipent also said that Durant “does not know how to lead and win.”
“When you’re leading the troops, you gotta know how to lead and win,” said Pippen. “And KD [Kevin Durant}, as great as his offense was, it turned out to be his worst enemy because he didn’t know how to play team basketball when it came down to it. He kept trying to go punch for punch. … LeBron would’ve been better in that kind of situation because he would’ve used his team to pick them apart.”
Durant then went to Twitter to roast Pippen, saying: “Didn’t the great Scottie pippen refuse to go in the game for the last second shot because he was in his feelings his coach drew up the play for a better shooter??”
Durant was referring to Game 3 in the 1994 postseason series between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks, where Pippen sat out the last play of the game because Phil Jackson designed a play for Chicago’s Toni Kukoc.
Durant averaged 35.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists on 49.7 percent shooting from the field for the current series.
