Islanders defeat Bruins 6-2 in Game 6, advance to Stanley Cup semifinals

The New York Islanders scored a 6-2 win over the Boston Bruins in Game 6 on Wednesday, moving into the Stanley Cup semifinals for a second straight year.

Islanders’ Brock Nelson scored twice, and Kyle Palmieri netted his seventh goal of the playoffs, while Semyon Varlamov stopped 23 shots to secure the win. Bruins’ Brad Marchand scored twice, and Tuukka Rask made 23 saves.

With the win, the Islanders set up a rematch against the reigning champion Tampa Bay Lightning. They lost to Tampa in six games in the Eastern Conference finals last season. The Lightening advanced with a 4-1 series win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday,
