Golden Knights GM tests positive for Covid-19, self-isolating in Montreal

The Las Vegas Golden Knights announced on Sunday that their general manager, Kelly McCrimmon, is currently self-isolating in Montreal after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Kelly is self-isolating and will follow the protocols and recommendations from health officials and the NHL,” the Golden Knights said in a statement.

No other updates were given and the team declined comment when asked if McCrimmon was fully vaccinated.

News of the test result came before the game against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 4 of their Stanley Cup playoff semifinals at Montreal. The Canadiens is currently leading 2-1.

According to McCrimmon, before the series, 85 percent of the Golden Knights traveling party had been vaccinated, which qualified the team for relaxed protocols.

McCrimmon is the second person in the series to test positive. Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme is also currently self-isolating after testing positive on Friday.

“I wish I could be at the rink right now,” Ducharme said on Sunday. “I don’t feel different than a week ago.”
