Why was SportsWriters created?

SportsWriters was created for the serious sportswriter and sports fan. We desire to empower users with a better way to consume and create content.

Users of the site are invited to contribute ideas and content in a manner not regularly practiced on other sports websites.

How are the writers selected to appear on Sportswriters?

The SportsWriters team has spent significant time researching and identifying the top writers in each market and have meticulously vetted the best for inclusion.  We have attempted to select the best sportswriters and columnists who write for publications that provide free access to their content.

Still, we need help. While we have initially seeded each market and team with an initial set of writers, we know that local fans can assist us in refining our list of quality writers. In the end, all writers selected have gone through a review process for inclusion. If you think we have missed a great sportswriter in your area, please let us know!

How do I recommend a writer or publication for the site?

How do I find articles on my favorite players?

There are a few ways you can do this.

  • All of our stats views have player names linked to their player page, which includes all articles for that player.
  • Alternatively, simply type in a name of any player you can think of in the Search box on the right side of the top navigation bar.

What is Versus?

SportsWriters has created Versus – a new way to compare and debate articles written by two sportswriters with clashing views. SportsWriters identifies a hot topic and locates two writers (typically from different markets) who have expressed an opinion on that topic and have written an article with supporting arguments.

The result is a thought-provoking opinion match up.

  • Versus presents each article, side by side, with a summary of key points.
  • Readers can rate the match up, and comment on who makes the more compelling argument.
  • Directly below the match up, readers provide their thoughtful comments.
  • What makes Versus unique is that you can see how each commenter voted, and you can rate their comment.
  • Writers get rated on their article, and SportsWritermembers on their comments.

Everything is up for debate with Versus!

Can I write for Sportswriters?

Yes! SportsWriters will be allowing aspiring and experienced sportswriters to submit their own content and have their own author page to promote their writing, websites and/or products. SportsWriters will be providing the functionality soon.

If you are interested in writing for us, you can submit a Writer Application Form for consideration and we will let you know if you have been accepted, and we will update you on when you can expect to begin contributing.
