The Minnesota Vikings have reached a new deal with right tackle Brian O’Neill.

O’Neill has signed a five-year, $92.6 million contract extension, making him the second-highest paid right tackle in the league behind Ryan Ramczyk of the New Orleans Saints.

The 25-year-old expressed his joy and excitement to be in Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

“I want to be here, no matter what,” O’Neill said. “I’ve known that for a long time. The people we have in this building, everybody around here, I just want to be a part of it, and I’m happy to be a part of it. There was never really a doubt as to whether or not something was going to work or not, in my mind, because this is where I want to be.”

Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer would do everything in his power to improve his team for the upcoming season.

“I feel really good about the top guys, and then some of these young guys have got to come on,” Zimmer said. “But when you’re kind of top-heavy with finances, that’s what you’ve got to do. Hopefully, we’ll stay healthy and try to get these younger guys better.”

The Minnesota Vikings will face the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium in the season opener.
