Sunday’s game between the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw Antonio Brown dramatically walking off the field in the third quarter.

Following an argument with head coach Bruce Arians, Brown removed his helmet, shoulder pads, and undershirt, and left the field shirtless. However, despite the fact that Brown has been active on social media since the incident, he has yet to clarify why he left the field. NFL.com, on the other hand, provided some clarification on the matter on Monday.

According to the league’s official website, Brown felt he was too injured to play, so he refused to go out on the field when asked by Arians.

With the start of Week 17, Brown was dealing with an ankle injury that kept him from practicing on Thursday and Friday. In addition, the ankle injury also caused him to miss multiple games this year.

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game, Brown felt he couldn’t help the team and that it would do no good to keep him in. Arians was not pleased with Brown’s decision. After two refusals to enter the game, the coach told Brown to “Get out.”

However, when asked about the incident on Monday, Arians rejected the claim and said Brown did not inform him of the injury. “Brown left the field and that was it,” he said.

Following Sunday gsmr, Arians said Brown’s career with the Buccaneers was over, but the Tampa Bay coach still wished Brown well, noting “I do care about him a bunch and I hope he’s okay.”

Brown will reportedly be heading back to his Florida home to consider his future options, either looking for another NFL team or retiring from football for good.
