It is not easy to be a fan of the Chicago Bears or New York Jets these days. The Bears just lost 24-14 on Sunday to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, while the Jets have just won one of six games so far this season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady added salt in the wound to supporters of both teams on the latest episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast.

“Before we get started I wanted to say congrats to Aaron Rodgers obviously,” Brady said. “I know he’s a great quarterback but I guess he’s now a shareholder of the Bears. I saw a clip of him really enthusiastically telling the crowd how happy he is to own Soldier Field.”

Brady was referring to Rodgers’ words during the Packers vs. Bears game last Sunday in the fourth quarter with less than five minutes on the clock, where the 37-year-old screamed “I own you, I still own you” towards the Bears fans.

Rodgers defended his comments on Tuesday during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“It was definitely spur of the moment, and I am proud of my (touchdown) runs,” Rodgers said. “I didn’t plan on telling the crowd that I own them. I think, based on the statistical reference of my career win percentage down there against them, definitely, our teams have done some good things.”

Brady also took a shot at the New York Jets. When asked jokingly about he could also “own” the Jets as Rodgers “owns” the Bears, the defending Super Bowl champion responded light-heartedly.

“Oh, no. I’ll just take the color green,” Brady said. “I don’t need the Jets. I’ll just own the color green. I think that’s a little bit better.”

Brady has a 29-7 record against Robert Saleh’s Jets team in the regular season. He’s thrown for 8,649 yards and 57 touchdowns against New York.

The Jets and New England Patriots have their own history of rivalry. However, Brady simply could not betray his loyalty to the Patriots after playing 19 seasons and winning six Super Bowls titles with them.
