Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured victory number six this season by crushing the Chicago Bears 38-3 last week. At the same time, veteran quarterback Tom Brady reached an incredible milestone — his 600th touchdown pass.
Brady threw a pass to fellow teammate Mike Evans who successfully scored a touchdown for Tampa Bay. Unaware of the ball’s significance, Evans innocently gave it to a fan, later identified as Byron Kennedy, while celebrating with them.
The Buccaneers staff later negotiated with Kennedy to get the ball back, and it’s safe to say that it was a good day for Kennedy.
In his latest conversation with the Manning brothers, Brady spoke jokingly about how the fan should have renegotiated better.
“There was a lot of negotiations to get the ball back,” Brady told Peyton and Eli Manning. “Byron realized he lost all of his leverage when he gave the ball away. He should have held it so he would have had as much leverage as possible. I think it worked out. I am also giving him a Bitcoin. That’s pretty cool, too. At the end of the day, I think he’s still making out pretty well.”
One Bitcoin is currently worth close to around $63,000.
Goldin Auctions executive Ken Goldin told Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Eisenberg on Sunday that the ball itself would easily be worth a “minimum $500,000.” Collectible CEO Ezra Levine even valued it higher at “closer to $750,000.”
Greg Auman of The Athletic gave a detailed list of what Kennedy has got in return for Brady’s game ball on his Twitter.
“For anyone questioning Byron Kennedy giving the Tom Brady 600th TD ball back to the Bucs, here’s a rundown of what he got: 2 signed jerseys and helmet from Brady, a signed Mike Evans jersey and his game cleats, a $1,000 credit to team store and TWO season passes this year & next,” Auman wrote.

Tom Brady: Bucs fan ‘should’ve held’ 600th-TD ball; offers man bitcoin valued at nearly $63K
Incredibly bullish. Tons of new sites are covering this right now.
If this fan is smart he sits on this 1-BTC. He has something major happening
Just about the only celebrity “endorsement” that might matter. Not that he specifically knows much about it, but he won’t sound off acting like he does.
Thats a great prize for a ball.
Tom Brady is good for Bitcoin and Crypto. The 🐐
Those are the things that really help to spread acceptance.. they are idols, and if they have bitcoin, fans will follow.. at least I hope so
What a gift for a ball lol
Amateur move. Should’ve held out until the offer was higher
