Golden States Warriors All-Star guard Stephen Curry is set to be back on the court for Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets.
The Warriors held a Thursday practice and Curry could be seen participating for 18 minutes with the team.
“Steph did scrimmage three six-minute segments. He felt good. That’s another checkpoint to hit, and he’s optimistic that he’ll play on Saturday,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr told ClutchPoints. “But we’ll have to reevaluate tomorrow to see how his foot responds overnight. Right now, things are looking good. His conditioning is good. It’s good for him to get out there and play because of the speed of the game, and he’s got to feel all that stuff and get some rest but a good day overall.”
Kerr later added that the 32-year-old shooter will have restrictions to avoid further injuries.
“I don’t know what the number is, but he’s not playing 30, 35 minutes,” the coach said.
Curry went down during the Warriors game against the Boston Celtics with Marcus Smart falling on his leg. Following the medical team assessment, Curry was diagnosed with ligament damage and bone bruises. However, the storm has passed and he could be back leading Golden State for this season’s playoffs.
The Warriors and Nuggets game will be on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. from Chase Center.
