Stephen A. Smith praises Boston Celtics’ defense, hails Ime Udoka
American sports personality and commentator for ESPN’s “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith, recently shared his thoughts about the Boston Celtics as the best team in the Eastern Conference.
The 54-year-old shared his belief that Boston is the team to beat. The television personality sang high praise for Celtics head coach Ime Udoka for the team’s versatile defense.
“Udoka, what he has done, I can’t say enough,” Smith said. “This guy is legitimately a top 2 coach of the year candidate. This team, look at them defensively. They’re like a bunch of piranhas. They switch everywhere. You have five guys that get out on shooters better than anybody I’ve ever seen.”
The commentator also praised Boston’s star duo, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, for putting up an amazing performance this season, but would like to see them be more consistent
“Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have elevated their level of play,” he said. “I want to see it be more consistent because you weren’t that way at the beginning of the season and are flowing now in the last 30+ games, the playoffs are a different beast.”
Notably, Boston has been doing great so far with nine games left on the schedule and being only two games behind the conference leading Miami Heat.
Udoka’s men also have recorded four consecutive wins after a recent game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Next up, the Celtics will face the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
