On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors will face the Philadelphia 76ers and Stephen Curry will once again attempt to break the NBA record for three-pointers, which is held by former Boston Celtics and Miami Heat sharpshooter Ray Allen. Curry just needs 10 more three-pointers to pass Allen’s 2,973.

The 33-year-old buried six three-pointers against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, when the Warriors beat the the Trail Blazers 104-94. In the game, Curry finished the night with a team-high 22 points and was 6-of-17 from the three-point line (35.3%). On that night, he would have needed a record 16 three-pointers to break the record.

“To make that many 3s in one game obviously has never been done before, so it was just a routine night,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry’s effort to top Allen. “He made six, which is nothing for him. I don’t think I ever did that in my entire career one time.”

Kerr also shared his thoughts on beating Portland without Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

“Strange,” Kerr said. “I don’t think we’ve ever faced Portland without both of them, so they’re in a tough space right now.”

Otto Porter Jr. contributed 15 points and six rebounds from the bench as the Golden State improved to 21-4.

“I’m just along for the ride,” Porter said, adding his job will be to help Curry “get open looks.”
