Aaron Rodgers proved his critics wrong again as he completed 20-of-36 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 27-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field on Sunday. It was the Packers third consecutive win.

The reigning NFL MVP also tied Hall of Famer Dan Marino for sixth all-time with 420 career touchdown passes when he threw a TD pass to Randall Cobb in the third quarter.

“He’s still a really good player,” Rodgers said of Cobb.

The 31-year-old wide receiver was originally drafted by the Packers back in the 2011 NFL Draft and spent eight seasons in Green Bay before he got traded to Dallas in 2019 and the Texans in 2020.

“He understands how I move, so whenever I’m getting ready to break on my route, he knows,” Cobb said. “It’s muscle memory. It’s been a couple of years, but it’s kind of like when you get back around your friends and you remember things that you hadn’t even thought about in so long. It’s kind of that connection that we have.”

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur was satisfied with his team’s overall performance.

“I thought that was a mature win,” LaFleur said. “Just our whole mentality all week, it was very workmanlike. Guys came in very focused. I felt the energy was great.”

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger also achieved an impressive milestone by throwing his 400th career touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson. He became the eighth player in the league to do so.

On the other hand, Pittsburgh outside linebacker T.J. Watt was disappointed with his team’s loss but not broken.

“It’s still super early in the season,” Watt said. “At home next week, and just like every week, it’s a got-to-have-it. But this feeling definitely sucks.”

Next week, Green Bay hits the road to play the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium, while the Steelers host the Denver Broncos.
