Forward Kristaps Porzingis managed to make a big impact in his debut for the Washington Wizards despite only playing 21 minutes.
In the Sunday night 133-123 win over the Indiana Pacers, Porzingis finished with 25 points, five rebounds and two blocks. He shot 7 out of 12 from the field, and 3 out of 4 from beyond the arc.
In the post-game interview, the Latvian international said: “As soon as I got here, I felt comfortable right away.”
The former All-Star also mentioned how the fans and the organization have welcomed him with open arms, and how happy he is to be on the floor with the team.
“Happy to be out there with a minutes restriction,” added the former Mavs forward. “I tried to stay calm, not to do too much, play the right way. Most importantly, we got the win.”
Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. was impressed with Porzingis’s performance. After the game, he said: “I was pleasantly surprised, honestly, with his conditioning. I know we had to be mindful of the stretches that he was going to play, but he handled it well.”
