In their game on Tuesday night’s game, the New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0, but things turned ugly when another Mets’ player was hit by a pitch for an MLB-leading 18th time.

Needless to say, the Mets’ players are getting tired of it.

“We’re tired of (getting hit) and we’re going to have to do ‘something’ about it if it continues to happen, because it is uncomfortable every time you go out there to get hit,” the Mets’ Starling Marte said.

That ‘something’ was exactly what happened in Wednesday’s game. In the eighth inning, the Mets’ J.D. Davis was hit on the ankle by Cardinals’ pitcher, Génesis Cabrera.

Yoan López, who was making his debut with the Mets that night, then threw a pitch up and in at Cardinals’ third baseman Nolan Arenado, who became angry, and started shouting at López and catcher Tomás Nido.

The rest is history, as both benches cleared and a pushing-and-shoving match broke out on the field.

Three Mets players and two Cardinals were hit in Tuesday’s game, including Pete Alonso, who was hit in the head.

In Wednesday’s brawl, Alonso got pulled from behind by Cabrera and the Cardinals’ first-base coach Stubby Clapp. Both Cabrera and Clapp were thrown out of the game.

“Getting domed up isn’t fun, it’s honestly not safe, it’s dangerous and there’s consequences whether it’s on purpose or not. We’re gonna stand up for ourselves, said Alonso. “What happened today didn’t even make sense. The ball wasn’t even close. Something got started for no reason.”

The Cardinals won the game 10-5.

"I'll let them handle their players. I know our player got hit in the head and went to first base (Tuesday night)."
