Former Utah Jazz point guard Patrick Beverley has agreed to return to the City of Angels and joins forces with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming NBA season, according to multiple reports.

Beverley, who spent four years with the Los Angeles Clippers, was initially traded to Utah by the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a package deal including Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley, Leandro Bolmaro, the draft rights to Walker Kessler, four future first-round picks, and a pick swap for Rudy Gobert last month.

In return, the Lakers send Stanley Johnson and Talen Horton-Tucker to the Jazz.

Lakers president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka expressed his excitement after finalizing the deal and considered that the two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team guard is a valuable addition to the team.

“We are thrilled to add Patrick Beverley’s toughness and competitive spirit to our team,” Pelinka said. “We’re confident that Patrick’s ‘3-and-D’ style will fit in nicely with the other pieces of our roster and align perfectly with Coach Ham’s philosophy of hard work and smart play.”

Beverley himself shared his happiness joining the Lakers by tweeting ”Woke up a Laker!!! Its On!!!” with purple and gold heart emojis.

The former Clipper averaged 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists for the Wolves last season, according to Yahoo Sports. Beverley started 54 of 58 games as well, and played a key role in Minnesota reaching the playoffs.

ESPN Stats & Information also recorded that Beverley has held opponents to 41.9 percent shooting as the closest defender over the past five seasons, second best among players defending a total of 2,000 shots,

"I used to hate Beverley when he played against my Lakers lol but now I love him because he's on our team and he's going to help my Lakers get to the playoffs!."
