According to Ian Rapoport, reporting for the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Jaire Alexander have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $84 million, which includes a signing bonus of $30 million and an $11.5 million roster bonus that comes due March of 2023.

The Packers started holding talks with Alexander back during the combine to get negotiations completed early this offseason.

“I’m just thankful that everyone else gets a chance to see what I always thought I was I love the love. Because that’s something that was rarely received to me. It’s cool, but at the same time, it’s also humbling, because I know where I came from, so it always pushes me.”

Excelling in 2020

For the 2020 season in which Jaire Alexander was named second-team All-Pro and was selected for the Pro Bowl, the 2018 first-round draft pick was finally getting the recognition he deserved. Despite his team failing to earn a Super Bowl berth, Alexander had played a significant role in intercepting Tom Brady twice during the Packers’ NFC Championship Game loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Injured for most of 2021

Jaire Alexander missed most of the 2021 season with a shoulder injury and played only five games. He was set to earn $13.3 million in 2022, the final year of his rookie contract.

Are These Guys Really worth it

According to OverTheCap.com, the $21 million a year average is higher than the five-year, $100.5 million extension Denzel Ward signed last month

"Obviously he's a guy that's really important to us, one of the premier corners in this league."

- Matt LaFleur

"He's such a big part of what we're doing; he's been such a good player for us since the day he kind of arrived."

- Brian Gutekunst

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Jaire Alexander led the Packers in pass breakups in each of his first three seasons and ranked fourth in the NFL from 2018 to 2020 with 42. Only James Bradberry (with 45), Stephon Gilmore (43) and Janoris Jenkins (43) had more.
