The 2022 NFL Draft is slated to begin this Thursday, April 28, and run through Saturday, April 30, in Las Vegas.

Reportedly, draft prospects get to have a red carpet walk on top of the Bellagio hotel fountains. Perhaps something that sports analysts fInd too outlandish.

The event is set to feature Commissioner Roger Goodell announcing the draft’s first-rounders embodying the spirit of the world’s Gambling Capital.

“The key thing for the draft is to take on the character of where we are,” NFL senior director of event operations Eric Finkelstein said. “This is not a cookie-cutter event. We try to embody and highlight where we are.”

The NFL had worked with its prime sponsor partner Caesars, one among two other gambling big names that NFL added as soon as betting happened to be its sponsor category.

“We worked with Caesars to add a door to allow us to get the prospects out of the building with a direct connection to our theater building,” said Heather Nanberg, the league’s director of events. “We really focused on our prospect experience this year and we are committed to Caesars Forum.”

With Las Vegas decorating the event’s background alongside its authentic fresh scent of slot machines, casinos and a lineup of showgirls—it is beyond unthinkable to process that NFL and betting would work together in a sentence less than five years ago.

It was mainly due to Nevada authorities who have had strict gambling regulations on actual sporting events ever since betting for the draft was allowed in 2017. Although, for some betting on the draft might not be on their book.

“It might be my least favorite event to book,” longtime oddsmaker who runs the Westgate SuperBook Jay Kornegay said. “We’ve only done it a few years but we haven’t fared well on it at all.”
