New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has revealed one of his plans for the upcoming 2022-23 season regarding his staff. According to Belichick, he will work without an offensive or defensive coordinator this season.
āIām not big on titles,ā Belichick answered when asked about additional coaching staff for the Patriots on Monday, via the Boston Globe. āWe donāt have to call any (plays) for a while.ā
New Englandās longtime offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels left this offseason to become head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia decided to go to Detroit in 2018. However, after he was fired by the Lions at the end of last season, Patricia returned to the Patriotsā coaching staff. Former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge has also joined the staff.
Both Patricia and Judge will be in charge of offensive strategies, despite the fact that Patricia is more familiar with defense, while Judge knows special teams.
āItās important that all our players get good coaching,ā Belichick said via Sportsnaut and CBS Sports. āAnd we plan on doing that.ā
Patriots young quarterback Mac Jones, who is entering his second season in the NFL, really needs a steady voice in the locker room this season.

He's definitely been called offensive by some...
Smash the under for Pats wins this year then
Fuck Patricia
Patricia has worked with the O line before IIRC, so this isn't exactly shocking unless they have him coaching receivers or something
If the staff involves Patricia it is indeed offensive.
Parlaying 17 unders
He has plenty of practice in Detroit! Not from helping our offense but opposing teams.
Head of offensive culinary operations
The Patriots post-McDaniels & Brady is going to be one of the more interesting subplots of 2022 season. Bill is obviously a great coach but I think he is going to struggle for forseeable future between losing his offensive guy and having a green QB. Excited to watch nonetheless. Sith lord Belichick could possibly pull out another championship within 4 years, who knows.
I am offended
