The New England Patriots traded defensive end Chase Winovich in exchange for Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Wilson, according to multiple reports.

Both franchises agreed to the trade, but the transaction is yet to be officially approved until the NFL business year begins on Wednesday, March 16 at 4 p.m..

Winovich has recorded 85 tackles and 11 sacks so far in his career. However, the 26-year-old only made 11 tackles and had zero sacks in 2021.

In three seasons, he has played in 45 regular-season games. His overall performance was not a shocker for New England to release its once-promising pass rusher.

Winovich expressed his gratitude to the franchise, saying, “I am so grateful for my experience in New England. The love, spirit, and support have been absolutely unreal. This entire region will always hold the most special of places in my heart. The time is now for the next chapter of my journey.”

On the other hand, Wilson has played in slightly fewer regular-season games than Winovich, having played 43 games in three seasons. The 24-year-old has 163 tackles, one sack, and one interception in his career.

The Browns are currently rearranging their LB corp and have released Kyle Van Noy, as well as another three players to free agency.

Wilson joins Cleveland’s “depth chart” alongside Josh Uche, Ronnie Perkins, Jahlani Tavai, Cameron McGrone, Harvey Langi, Raekwon McMillan, Terez Hall, and Anfernee Jennings.
