The New York Mets have fired acting general manager Zack Scott after he was cited with Driving Under Influence charges back in August, sources familiar with the situation confirmed.

Justin Toscano of USA Today shared the news on his Twitter account.

“Zack Scott, the Mets’ acting general manager, will not return next season, a source confirms. @martinonyc was on this,” Toscano wrote. Scott is awaiting a December trial following an arrest and DWI charges. It had been unclear what the Mets would do with his situation.”

ESPN’s MLB Insider Jeff Passan said that Scott, alongside Mets owner Steve Cohen and players, were at a fundraising event at Cohen’s Connecticut house on August 31.

“On the night of New York Mets GM Zack Scott was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, he was at the Connecticut home of team owner Steve Cohen,” sources tell ESPN.

“A fundraiser for the team’s Amazin’ Mets Foundation was being held at the house, and Scott and players were there,” Passan tweeted.

Passan then added, “… The fundraiser at Steve Cohen’s house ended sometime around 8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m. The DUI arrest occurred about seven hours after that.”

Scott was placed on paid administrative leave following the arrest.

The 44-year-old pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge and three traffic violations. He is set to stand trial in White Plains City Court next month.
