Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James made more history on Saturday, as he passed Karl Malone to become No. 2 on the NBA’s all-time scoring leader’s list during his team’s road game against the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena.

The four-time NBA champion ended the game with 38 points, six assists and 10 rebounds. But it was not enough to stop Wes Unseld Jr. and his men, as the Wizards won 127-119.

King James received a standing ovation from the audience when he achieved the milestone with a lay-up in the second quarter of the game.

The 18-time NBA All-Star said that he will not think about the milestone too much, but just play the game in his own way.

“I will not allow myself to think about it,” James said. “I’ve always just played the game the way I’ve been playing it over the years. These things have just happened organically by just going out and playing the game the right way. I hope to accomplish that at some point in my career, but I won’t think about it too much.”

James, who now has 36,947 points in the regular season, is 1,440 points behind six-time champion and Lakers’ great, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is No. 1 on the list.

Many predict the 37-year-old James will surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s points total next season, as he has scored 1,542 this season.
