Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony called out several fans who taunted him during the Lakers’ 105-87 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, calling the taunting “unacceptable.” During the game, umpires and players from both sides intervened due to the occurrences.

“Some things were said,” Anthony acknowledged after the game, according to ESPN. “Unacceptable. I’m cool with fans heckling, fans talking trash, cheering for their team, booing the other team, I’m all for that. But when you cross certain lines, as a man, you just, that’s what you’re going to see. That’s what you’re going to get, as you saw there.”

Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Anthony confronted a fan near center court after the spectator referred to the 19-year veteran as “boy.”

As security dealt with the matter, Anthony claims that another courtside fan taunted him with harsh words, prompting 76ers big man Joel Embiid to intervene.

According to a 76ers representative, one spectator was expelled from the Wells Fargo Center. Any additional fan punishment will be determined by the arena.

Anthony said Thursday’s incident was out of the usual in comparison to previous visits, and that Philadelphia has always been a “great place to come in and play” for the 37-year-old.
