The New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco had been traded back to New York.

The reunion with the 2012 Super Bowl MVP cost the Jets a 2022 sixth-round conditional pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN was told.

The trade took place amid the Jets’ offensive woes following rookie quarterback Zach Wilson being sidelined for at least two games due to a sprained knee.

Wilson was replaced by Mike White in the second quarter of Sunday’s 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots. White is set to start Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with Flacco as his backup in case he struggles.

White was a Dallas Cowboys 2018 fifth-round pick. He made his NFL debut last Sunday and has no starting experience. He completed 20-of-32 passes for 202 yards, two interception,s and one touchdown.

Flacco started eight games for the Denver Broncos in 2019 and four games for the Jets in 2020. He then joined the Eagles in March. His first 11 seasons were spent with the Baltimore Ravens, in which he led them to six playoff appearances and one Super Bowl title.
