After the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Trevor Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the expectations that come with the No.1 pick certainly made the former Clemson Tiger realize that he had to adjust swiftly to the NFL scene.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars were dealing with their own internal issues, and the sacking of former head coach Urban Meyer certainly did not help Lawrence’s transition into the league.

He started all 17 games for the Jaguars last season, completing 59.6 percent of his passes for 3,641 yards with 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Additionally, he ran for 334 yards and scored two touchdowns.

“There were definitely some times where you’re on a losing streak of five or six games in a row, it gets a little rough,” Lawrence said on FS1’s “The Herd.”

The 2021 ACC Athlete of the Year winner also admitted that he was trying his best last season when the Jaguars only won three games in 2021 and had eight straight losses from Weeks 10-17.

“I hadn’t lost more than five or six games probably my whole career up until that point. That was definitely a reality check for sure, but just trying to stay positive, try to keep the team together, I think that’s something I tried to do the whole season."

"Just trying to stay positive, trying to keep the team together, I think that was something I tried to do the whole season. Yeah, it was challenging," Lawrence said. "I think I learned a lot from last year, obviously a different perspective than when you're just winning, like I'd done in the past."

What's wrong with being confident?

It is understandable that Lawrence is now more confident with the team than last season. The franchise replaced Meyer with a Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson, alongside a new coaching staff and better talent acquired through the NFL Draft and free agency.  With names like tight end Evan Engram, guard Brandon Scherff, and receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones will be very helpful for the Jags this season

"I think this season is going to be a lot different just because we have from myself better leadership, but also around the team,"
