The Los Angeles Chargers have reportedly signed New England Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Both parties are believed to have agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million contract that includes $40 million guaranteed.

Chargers coach Brandon Stanley previously expressed his intention to get a proper cornerback during the NFL scouting combine and he got that in Jackson.

“You’re in five defensive backs 65 percent or more, so corner is definitely going to be something that we’re looking at,” Staley said in Indianapolis. “We’re always going to be looking at it as long as I’m the head coach. You’re aware of these receivers that we have to defend.”

Jackson, who likes to call himself “Mr. INT,” thought that he would stay in New England for the upcoming season, however, the Patriots seemed to delay his contract renewal.

“I guess they feel like they don’t need me,” Jackson spoke to NBC Sports Boston. “I guess I can’t be that important to them. I know I am, but they’re not showing me. Whatever happens happens. I’m taking it day by day. But it’s time for me to get paid. It’s time to get Mr. INT paid.”

So far, the Chargers have re-signed Mike Williams, acquired Khalil Mack, and now Jackson. In addition to those players, defensive tackles Austin Johnson and Sebastian Joseph-Day are set to join the squad as well, according to multiple reports.
