The Indianapolis Colts finally made a move by trading their quarterback Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders, including some draft picks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter also reported that Indianapolis will get the Commanders’ third-round picks in 2022 and 2023. Both teams swapped second-round picks in 2022, with the Colts changing position from No. 47 overall to No. 42.
Zak Keefer of The Athletic wrote that Indianapolis decided to trade Wentz due to problems even before last season began.
“As for the Colts, the issues with Wentz stretched back to before the season began, one source said, and over the course of the year, some grew frustrated at what they deemed a lack of leadership, a resistance to hard coaching and a reckless style of play, which had a role in several close losses this year,” Keefer reported.
Colts general manager Chris Ballard was initially hopeful that Wentz would be staying in Indy, but now he had to change his mind.
“I’d like to quit Band-Aiding it,” Ballard said back in January. “I’d like for Carson to be the long-term answer or find somebody who will be here for the next 10 to 12 years. Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. I can dream about it, wish about it, do everything I can to figure out the solution, but you do the best with what you can do at the time.”
In addition, sources told Schefter that the Commanders will pay the full $28 million for Wentz, which includes a $5 million roster bonus next week.

Like going into the supermarket to get a Porterhouse and coming out with stick of pepperoni and bag of cool ranch doritos.
From the article, the even cooler part: Wentz, who learned he was on shaky ground with the organization over the last month, reached out to Irsay in hopes of setting up a meeting to “clear the air,” a source said. But Irsay declined the meeting.
Thank you, Denver.
So they got desperate lol
Oh my god they played themselves
So whoever the commanders GM is got fucked in the ass by the colts?
Russ is a real one for using that no trade clause 🙏🏻
Lol Wentz is like the anti-Midas of the NFL.
"...the issues with Wentz stretched back to before the season began, one source said, and over the course of the year, some grew frustrated at what they deemed a lack of leadership, a resistance to hard coaching and a reckless style of play..." Sounds like the perfect guy for us!
