Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan shared his admiration and respect for one of the greatest players in the NBA, LeBron James, following his team’s 115-110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the United Center on Sunday.

It was a hard-fought game as both teams were severely understaffed due to injuries and Covid-19. The Bulls, however, managed to triumph over the Lakers for the second time this season.

“I felt free as a bird,” said DeRozan, who led his team with 38 points in the victory. “Just getting out there, being with those guys, being in front of the fans. Just getting out the basement I was in for 10 days.”

Despite his side winning, DeRozan praised the leader of the opponent.

“He knows it,” said DeRozan, per Bulls insider K.C. Johnson. “I’ve said it over and over. I got the utmost respect for LeBron. It’s definitely one of those situations that when I’m older I can say I played against that guy.”

DeRozan has faced James a few times in the past, including his stint with the Toronto Raptors where James owned the Raptors in three consecutive postseasons with a 12-2 record, earning him the monicker “LeBronto.”
