Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, 48, has announced his decision to unretire and play football again.

T.O. won’t be back in the NFL, but he will join the startup Fan Controlled Football League, a source told Reuters.

The games will be played in a 7-on-7 format, indoors, and on a 50-yard field.

Just like its name, this league sells its name by promoting an unusual way of playing football in which the fans will call all the plays.

There are other former and current NFL players who are also reportedly joining this new league including team owners Marshawn Lynch, Austin Ekeler, Richard Sherman, Dalvin Cook, and Tiki and Ronde Barber, according to NBC Sports.

Owens, who last signed his professional contract with the Seattle Seahawks back in 2012, always feels confident about his preparedness to return to the NFL.

“There’s no doubt, 100 percent, that I can play in the National Football League today,” he told TMZ in 2021. “I’m not washed up. … Once you know how to ride a bike, you know, you don’t forget how to ride that bike.”

One report also added that “Owens will be mic’d up and wearing a helmet camera for games. He will also provide content for streaming provider fuboTV by interviewing team owners and players during games when he is not playing,” as per TotalProSports.

Owens spent 15 seasons in the league and played for several teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks.

He was a six-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro selection five times. He was later inducted into the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
