New York Giants head coach Joe Judge shut down the possibility of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. coming back to play for the Giants after he was waived by the Cleveland Browns last week. He had played for the Giants from 2014-2018.

When asked by reporters on Monday if the Giants had any plans of claiming a specific “high profile” wide receiver on waivers (i.e., Beckham) in the coming days, Judge said he “wouldn’t expect anything,” as per NJ.com’s Zack Rosenblatt.

Based on the waiver-order list, the Giants are in second place behind the Detroit Lions, and head coach Dan Campbell earlier confirmed that Beckham would not be coming to Detroit either.

“Uh, no,” Campbell responded when asked if the team would claim Beckham, according to MLive.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that Beckham is “likely to clear waivers” — an unexpected turn that Beckham would happily accept.

“He prefers to be a free agent,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio said during NBC’s Sunday Night Football. “The teams to watch, I’m told, are the (Seattle) Seahawks, the (San Francisco) 49ers, and the (New Orleans) Saints. And I’m told he prefers the Seattle Seahawks.”

Beckham was officially put on waivers on Monday, which means teams will have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday to put in a claim for the 29-year-old. Any team who claims Beckham on waivers will have to assume his $7.25 million for the rest of the season.
