The New York Giants traded defensive lineman B.J. Hill on Monday to the Cincinnati Bengals for center Billy Price.
The news was confirmed by Giants coach Joe Judge. The Bengals also announced they acquired Hill for Price, who was selected 21st in the 2018 draft.
As a former Ohio State star, Price has a rather disappointing track record in the NFL. He was replaced by Trey Hopkins at center.
Price only had nine starts in the past two seasons, including one start last season. He started 10 games when he was a rookie.
Hill was drafted by the Giants out of North Carolina State as a third-round draft pick. He played in all 48 games the last three seasons and started 17. He also had 7 1/2 sacks, 13 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for loss, and three passes defended during the same period.
According to Judge, Hill was not featured in the Giants’ 22-20 defeat of the New England Patriots in the preseason due to the trade.
“It’s a position where, honestly, he’s drawn a lot of interest,” Judge said, as quoted by the Associated Press. “I have a lot of respect for B.J. as a player. I think he is a starting defensive lineman in this league.”
