Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving was booed by the fans of his former team, the Boston Celtics, as the two teams played on Sunday. The game ended with the Nets suffering a heavy loss 126-120 at TD Garden.

Irving was not only booed during the game, but the Boston fans chanted “Kyrie sucks.”

Irving made a response after the game saying: “It’s like the scorned girlfriend” and the 29-year-old described the Celtics fans as “wanted to have an explanation over why he left.”

Celtics fans were disappointed over what the seven time All-Star player did in the past. Irving only spent two seasons with the Celtics, the shortest span of time he had ever played with one team.

Prior to the Celtics, Irving played six seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as he was picked by the franchise with the first overall pick in the 2011 draft. Right now, Irving is in his third season with the Nets.

However, it appears that Irving received huge criticism last season after he stomped on the Celtics logo, which infuriated the franchise’s fans according to Fadeaway World.

As for Sunday’s game, Irving scored 19 points, and had six assists and four rebounds. Star forward Kevin Durant led the team 37 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
