The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-4 on Tuesday night.

With that win, along with a loss by the San Diego Padres to the San Francisco Giants, the Dodgers clinched a playoff spot for the ninth consecutive season.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner was pleased with the result.

“We’re kind of on our own path right now and playing really good baseball,” Turner said. “Although you don’t want to take those things for granted, I don’t know if we’ll celebrate that. Enjoy the moment. At the same time, know there’s still a lot of work ahead of us.”

On the other hand, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team still has a long way ahead of it and emphasized that the result is “just the beginning.”

“It’s a big accomplishment,” the 49-year-old manager told reporters. “You don’t ever want to get jaded and not appreciate getting to the postseason. We acknowledged that, but also acknowledged that we have a lot of work to do.”

The Dodgers will face the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park next.
