The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly have signed Andrew Heaney to a one-year contract worth $8.5 million, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday.

This will be the second time the 30-year-old has played for the Dodgers after the team first acquired the left-handed pitcher back in December 2014 as part of a seven-player deal with the Miami Marlins. Dee Gordon, Miguel Rojas, and Dan Haren went to Miami.

Kiké Hernández, Austin Barnes, Chris Hatcher, and Heaney went to Los Angeles. Heaney was then traded that same day to the Los Angeles Angels for Howie Kendrick.

It was a season to forget for Heaney in 2021, as it was a split between the Angels and the New York Yankees, who acquired him on July 30. He recorded a 5.83 earned-run average in 129 2/3 innings in 30 appearances (23 starts). He finished the season with an ERA+ of 76.

Heaney, who made $6.75 million last season, gave up 13 home runs in 35 2/3 innings in September. He was designated for assignment and granted free agency the following month. Heaney also reportedly spoke with multiple teams before deciding on the Dodgers.
