Derrick Henry has been working out this week and it looks like he will be ready to play this Saturday when the Tennessee Titans host the Cincinnati Bengals in a divisional round playoff game.

Henry spoke to reporters on Thursday for the first time since his right foot fracture on October 31 and said it was “shocking” with how he had to struggle through the season with the first injury of his career.

“It was the first time that I got injured during the season and had to miss you know the rest of the season, so it was definitely different …,” Henry said. “Just glad that I was able to get through it and had my support system and happy to be back.”

Henry had surgery after fracturing his foot in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts, a game in which he became the NFL’s leading rusher with 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pound former Heisman winner said it’s all part of what he’s had to work through to overcome the injury. He thanked the Titans’ trainers, his girlfriend driving him to the team headquarters for physical therapy for the five weeks he couldn’t drive, his team, and the fans. Henry now has a large metal plate in his foot.

Earlier this month the Titans placed Henry on the team’s “Designated for Return from Injured Reserve” list. NFL.com reported Tuesday that Henry is likely to be cleared to play in time for the home playoff game against the Bengals this Saturday.
