Cowboys end WFT’s win streak
- Football Team
The Dallas Cowboys ended the Washington Football Team’s four-game winning streak by defeating them 27-20 on Sunday at FedEx Field.
The Cowboys dominated the game, entering halftime with a 24-0 lead and leaving Washington players looking hopeless.
Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy made a prediction earlier in the week that he was “confident” that his players “are going to win this game” and McCarthy was right.
Washington began to muster a comeback late in the game, but it was too late. Their first score came after quarterback Taylor Heinicke found wide receiver Cam Sims for a 43-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter. Washington’s two-point conversion made it 24-8.
Washington’s defense played strong as linebacker Cole Holcomb’s interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter made it a 27-20 game. But, that was as close as they would get to the Cowboys.
Washington suffered from a slow start in the game, topped by quarterback Taylor Heinicke having one of his worst performances ever, struggling with the Dallas’ pass rush.
“We play these guys again in two weeks,” McCarthy said, without making a prediction this time.
