Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not given up on a comeback to the NFL and he teased his fans with a workout routine video.

Kaepernick tweeted a short video showing him doing quarterback training and he threw a ball at the end of the video.

“Colin Kaepernick is still working out and is said to be, in the words of one source, ‘in the best shape of his life.’ He wants to play. He’s ready to play. He would be a great fit for teams with QB vacancies to fill who want to win a Super Bowl,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter quote-tweeted Kaepernick’s video.

The 34-year-old last played in the league back in the 2016-2017 season when he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and social injustice in the United States.

The 49ers decided not to extend Kaepernick’s contract following the hiring of head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch. Shanahan thought Kaepernick did not fit the style of play he envisioned for his team.

Off the field, Shanahan said the former quarterback showed “courage” with his mission in bringing equality to the minority communities in the country.

“What Colin was protesting was something that should be respected by all humans,” Shanahan said following George Floyd’s killing back in 2020. “That did take a lot of courage. That is something that is 1,000 percent wrong and what he was trying to fix and bring light to. And gosh it was hard to bring light to the whole country because people didn’t want to totally hear it and it got diluted with so much different stuff.”

Only time will tell if one out of 32 NFL teams will give Kaepernick a second chance.
