While the Chicago Bears defeated the New York Giants 29-3 in their final home game of the 2021 season on Sunday, it still might be the end of head coach Matt Nagy’s stay in the Windy City. Nagy, who is 33-30, is expected to be fired at the end of the season.
A fan tweeted, “This isn’t exactly confirmation, but as we all expect, looks like Matt Nagy won’t return after this season.”
“Of all the firings set to happen in Chicago, Matt Nagy has always been the easiest to foresee happening. As always, the real questions lie with the people above Matt Nagy. Who else is on the firing line or is getting removed? Guess we’ll find out on Jan 10th,” said another fan on social media.
Nagy isn’t the only head coach whose employment future is in danger, but he’s the one who’s most likely to lose his job.
The Bears are expected to begin searching for Nagy’s successor after the final game of the season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is one of the most prominent figures in the discussion following the Wolverines loss to Georgia in the Orange Bowl over the weekend. While some believe he does not want to return to the NFL, others believe it is a strong possibility.

2018 was fun. But failure to adapt is why we’re here. I just truly hope we get a coach that’s good for the team and not a puppet of the FO.
Zimmer needs to be gone. He was a good coach, did a lot of good things, but his time has just run its course. No need to be nasty about it, no need to disrespect him or the job he’s done. It’s just time. Any observer can see this team just doesn’t work and we need new leadership to move forward.
But that guy's Uncle said...
GOOD. Now do Pace. And Ted.
Nagy is a dead man walking, figuratively speaking. Zimmer not so sure
>an epic meltdown on the field So what exactly are we putting out onto the field if it's not that
Let’s stop edging and just fire his ass already
“After a down year in 2020, the Vikings entered the season needing to improve. Instead, it's been a roller-coaster of emotions, with the latest blow coming with Kirk Cousins testing positive for COVID-19 and missing Week 17. Mike Zimmer appears to be one of the coaches whose fate has not yet been decided, per sources informed of his situation. Winning out and making the playoffs would go a long way toward solidifying his status. Miss the playoffs -- for the fifth time in eight seasons -- and it would be a decision left to Minnesota's ownership.”
Guys I think the Bears are likely to request to interview - Frazier, Leftwich, McDaniels, Harbaugh, Day, Daboll.
“His future is firmly un-firm. Certainly uncertain”
