The Milwaukee Bucks ended the Chicago Bulls season with a 116-100 victory on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum to clinch their series 4-1.
Milwaukee dominated the entire game, leading 34-18 in the first quarter, and 60-42 In the second quarter. The Bucks loosened up a bit in the fourth quarter, but leading 91-68 was too much to handle for the Bulls.
For Milwaukee, the reigning champs had to proceed in the absence of star forward Khris Middleton since Game 3, after he suffered a knee injury that rendered him unable to play for at least two weeks.
“But we’ve got depth, we’ve got a good group. We miss Khris, I don’t think anyone underestimates how important and how effective he is for us. While we don’t have him, we got to be our best up and down the roster,” Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said.
Instead, the Bucks had to rely on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Pat Connaughton, as the two led the team to the win.
Antetokounmpo racked up a team-high 33 points, three assists, and nine rebounds.
“Sometimes I got to score the ball. But in my head I don’t think about, like, ‘hey I got to score the ball. Khris is down, I got to score 40,’” Giannis said. “It’s kind of the opposite. It’s like, Khris is down now, we got to get 30-40 points from somebody else. So you got to move the ball.”
Coming in second behind Antetokounmpo was Connaughton who scored 20 points.
Up next for Budenholzer and his men in the second round is the 17-time NBA champion Boston Celtics.
