Brian Flores, 40, the recently fired head coach of the Miami Dolphins, filed a class-action lawsuit in the United States District Court of Southern New York on Tuesday against the NFL, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, and others, in which he claims there are systematic racism issues in the league’s hiring processes.

Flores was fired by the Dolphins after leading them to a 9-8 record this past season, their second consecutive winning season. Overall, he led them to a three-year 24-25 record, but did not make the playoffs in any of those years.

In the lawsuit, Flores alleges that the NFL discriminates against Black coaches for racial reasons, which denies them a chance to become head coaches, offensive and defensive coordinators, quarterbacks coaches, as well as general managers.

“It was time to stop being quiet about the injustices that are happening,” Flores’ said over the phone to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “This was long overdue. There’s plenty of racism that need to be exposed.”

Another thing Flores alleges in his lawsuit is that Dolphin’s owner, Stephen Ross, offered him $100,000 for each loss Miami had in the 2019 NFL season with the result being that the Dolphins wold get the No. 1 pick in the year’s draft. In other words, he was asked to lose games so the team could get a top pick. Flores refused.

In addition, the lawsuit claims that Flores was pressured to try and obtain a prominent quarterback.

“After the end of the 2019 season, Mr. Ross began to pressure Mr. Flores to recruit a prominent quarterback in violation of league tampering rules. Mr. Flores repeatedly refused to comply with these improper directives,” read the statement of Brian Flores lawsuit against NFL, multiple teams (February 1, 2022).

Despite the constant rejection by Flores, Ross forced Flores to meet up with a prominent, but unnamed quarterback who, at that time, was still with another team. Flores left the yacht where the parties met for lunch immediately.

The lawsuit said that after the incident, Flores was “treated with disdain and held out as someone who was noncompliant and difficult to work with.”

Flores lawsuit will definitely be an eye opener as it unfolds The NFL will definitely be on the hot seat for this one.
