New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard has reported that Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley was removed from the team’s practice facility after coming into contact with a member of the training staff who tested positive for COVID-19.
Beasley, along with fellow wide receiver Gabriel Davis, will be out of practice for five days despite testing negative for the virus per the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols.
It is understood that Beasley has been a vocal critic against vaccinations. Previously, the player had said that “without having all the proper information, a player can feel misguided and unsure about a very personal choice.
“I’m not anti or pro vax. I’m pro choice,” Beasley continued. “The issue at hand is information is being withheld from players in order for a player to be swayed in a direction that he may not be comfortable with. Safety does not solely mean avoiding the COVID virus. Our health is now and years beyond which we are trying to protect with our personal choice by doing all the things we did in our protocols during the very successful 2020 NFL season.”
On August 11, the NFL announced that the league had reached a COVID-19 vaccination rate of 91.7 percent among its players, with the Atlanta Falcons as the only team with a 100 percent vaccination rate. The Bills, meanwhile, are yet to report their figure.
Beasley, 32, is about to enter his 10th season in the NFL. He caught 82 passes for 967 yards and four touchdowns last season.
