Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to reveal his intentions for the 2022 NFL season, but the Packers quarterback is anticipated to do so shortly.
According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the reigning NFL MVP will notify Green Bay of his plans for the future “soon.” Some of these plans may include retirement, wrapping up the last year of his contract in Lambeau Field, or bringing his skills and talent to another franchise.
Rodgers is reportedly attracting the interest of numerous teams with multiple offers on the table, but the Packers would have to consent to trade first, claimed Russini, who appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Thursday. When the new NFL season starts on March 16, teams will be able to make official transactions.
In addition, the news comes just one day after Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters that he never vowed to trade Rodgers after the 2021 season and declined to say whether he’d honor a trade request.
Following Green Bay’s early elimination from the postseason — a Divisional Round defeat to the 49ers — Rodgers stated on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he would make a decision on his plans for the 2022 season by the end of February or early March.
The 38-year-old has also stated that he does not want to join a team that is rebuilding. Moreover, rumor has it that the Packers are willing to offer a competitive amount of remuneration in order to keep the four-time NFL MVP, who has devoted his whole 17-year career in Green Bay since being recruited in 2005.
