Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL will also reportedly investigate Rodgers’ vaccination status and if the Packers have broken any COVID-19 protocol.

“The primary responsibility for the enforcement of COVID protocols within club facilities rests with each club,” the league said in a statement. “Failure to properly enforce the protocols has resulted in discipline being assessed against individual clubs in the past. The league is aware of the current situation in Green Bay and will be reviewing the matter with the Packers.”

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur declined to talk about Rodgers’ vaccination status during a news conference Wednesday, but said he was convinced that the 37-year-old had been following COVID-19 protocols within the team facility.

“I watch what these guys do,” LaFleur said. “I can only speak to our football space, but yeah, absolutely. We’ve got cameras everywhere. … I think our guys do an outstanding job with it.”

When asked back in August whether he had been vaccinated, the reigning MVP said he had been “immunized.”

This week’s game was predicted to be the highly anticipated first meeting between Rodgers and Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but now the fans will have to wait a little longer.
