After securing a 123-108 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday, James Harden, who was making his home debut, said the Sixers feel “just like home,” marking a blissful start of the year for the Beard.
Currently on his third team in two seasons, the former MVP appears to finally have found his rhythm. Finishing the game with 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, Harden felt he was welcomed by the 76ers fans inside Wells Fargo Center.
Harden spoke to ESPN about his excitement and future ambitions with the team, saying: “I just wanted to do whatever it takes to get the win.”
“Just exciting,” the 10 times NBA All-Star added. “The love, the fans, it feels like home. Just the love, the support, man, from looking around, hearing, ‘We love you, James.’ That right there makes me go out and play harder, and I just wanted to do whatever it takes to get the win.”
Harden also appears to have found great communication with teammate Joel Embiid, who led the 76ers on offense with 27 points, two assists, and one rebound.
Embiid said that Harden is a great addition to the team.
“You’ve got someone in James that comes in with his experience and his playmaking ability, scoring ability, and you add up what he adds and he’s been amazing, and what we have on the team. It all fits,” the five-time NBA All-Star added.
For now, the 76ers might want to build and keep up the current pace they have. While Embiid and Harden are on good terms, this spring’s playoffs will be a long one.
Since Harden came to the 76ers, the team has been undefeated. However, the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Net and Boston Celtics are going to try and prove otherwise.
