For the first time in 22 years, the Atlanta Braves will compete in the World Series, continuing their rivalry with the Houston Astros.
The Braves advanced to the Fall Classic after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday.
This means Braves manager Brian Snitker will face his son, Troy Snitker, a co-hitting coach for the Astros, in the championship series.
“I told someone, the Snitkers are going to have a World Series trophy in their house, I don’t know who’s going to own it, but we’re going to have one,” the elder Snitker said after Saturday’s win, as quoted by Adam Wexler of SportsTalk790.
The Braves manager has been managing Atlanta since 2016 where he initially took the role on an interim basis. He has led the Braves to four consecutive NL East division crowns, and in parts of six seasons, he accumulated a 441-390 regular-season record for a 53.1 winning percentage. So far, the elder Snitker has been with the Braves for over four decades.
The younger Snitker also spent some time in Atlanta during his early career. The Braves drafted him in 2011, but he retired prior to the 2014 season due to a concussion and began coaching instead.
